Should I “Tiny House” My Garage? Vote!

The other day I read a fascinating post on the blog “Tiny House Talk” about transforming an out building (not an outhouse!) into a tiny house and renting it on Airbnb.

See that completed house here.

Here’s one of the photos of the “before.” Yech!

I think my lead character, Berly Charles, in my novella Big Love, would absolutely jump at the chance to dig into this project! Berly has a mind of her own, runs her own tiny house construction business, and isn’t afraid of projects. Which is a good thing, since the other character in the story, Nathan “Rafe” Rafferty, is quite a project.

But the blog post linked above got me thinking. And here’s what I thought in a video. So, what do you think? Share in the comments and be entered to win a e-book of Big Love.

Michael Ehret loves to play with words and as the author of “Big Love,” he is enjoying his current playground. Previous playgrounds include being the Managing Editor of the magazine ACFW Journal and the ezine Afictionado for seven years. He also plays with words as a freelance editor and has edited several nonfiction books, proofedited for Abingdon Press, worked in corporate communications, and reported for The Indianapolis Star.

    1. Ha! The post or the garage? The garage was Deb’s idea first. We’ll see what voters say.

I vote YES! I love the tiny house idea and think you could make a lovely, cozy place out of 300 sq. ft. Do it!

    1. Hello friend! Good to hear from you. It could be fun … after the work was done! Fortunately, I would not be doing the work … no one would want to stay in the tiny house I would create. LOL!

    1. That’s kind of what I think, too, Becky. I would love to have a tiny house for use as, say, a lakeside cottage or some such. Thanks for visiting!

Yes!!!!! We have college world series where housing is hard to find. If I had an outbuilding I’d love to do this. My husband won’t give up the garage. Better yet. I’d love to live in the tiny house and rent out my big house!

    1. I have 0 skills in remodeling, so we’d be looking at paying someone else to do the work. The good thing is, this is an extra room attached to the garage. So we keep our garage.
